The little boy had been sitting outside the bakery for nearly an hour.
Rain soaked his thin clothes.
But he never moved.
Inside, customers laughed and carried boxes of fresh cakes to their cars while the boy stared quietly through the window.
Finally, the bakery owner stepped outside.
“You can’t sit here,” he said firmly.
The child quickly stood up and apologized.
“I’m sorry, sir… I was just looking.”
The owner noticed the boy was holding a small plastic bag filled with coins.
“What’s that for?” he asked.
The boy opened the bag carefully.
Coins spilled into his tiny hands.
“I wanted to buy a birthday cake for my mom,” he whispered.
“But… I don’t think I have enough.”
The owner looked down at the coins.
Then his expression suddenly changed.
Because among the coins…
he saw something that made his hands freeze completely.
It was an old silver coin he had not seen in over 20 years.
And only one person could have given it to the boy.
Someone the owner believed was dead.
